Western Riding
by Lauren, Age 12
Western is really different than English.
Western Tack has different designs on basically every saddle or bridle. When you ride western you hold both reins in the one hand and one hand to your side.
Like English western walks, trots, canters, and gallops to learn about these go to English.
Unlike English western has cow roping, barrel racing, and when you have a western saddle on your horse you can never jump because the horn will go in your stomach!
The horn is a little bump on the front of the western used for roping. You hold on to it while you are swinging your rope. At the rodeo they are always doing western riding so you can go see how you barrel racing and barrel racing.
